STOP YOUR HEART CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER PIE!!!

Combination of two amazing recipes.  Salted peanuts, butter, sugar (just plain not super fine..you will get that joke later in this post)

Voila, the finished product! home made pie crust

Next up, is making the filling...

Emma mixing the peanut butter and sugar, the recipe called for "super fine" sugar, which I thought was made up by the person who wrote the recipe, NOT TRUE. IT EXISTS!! and looks just like regular granulated sugar! Let the super fly, hey micki your so super fine jokes commence ;)

While the crust was baking, Emma also whipped the heavy cream into lovely delicious peeks of

YUM

We took the crust out the over to cool and
 melted chocolate and cream into
 a wonderful chocolate ganache

The filling of peanut butter, cocoa, butter, vanilla extract mixed with the whip cream looked kinda gross but tastes amazingly sweet and
 heart stopping!

After so much needed silliness after our hard work...

The pie came to be!!

Grad school vacation pie

In my new tiny grad school kitchen during my final week of my 3 week vacation, I have attempted to make a pie.

Here is the recipe: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/giada-de-laurentiis/hazelnut-and-chocolate-pie-with-vanilla-whipped-cream-recipe/index.html

Due to my sheer laziness and the snow, I went to the closest grocery store where there were no hazelnuts so I chose almonds...we will see how that goes

I also do not have a food processor so I mashed the almonds with a hammer in a bag.  It was quite a scene.

I made the crust and kneaded it together a few times, just letting it be.  I usually over work the crust and it comes out tough like bread instead of happy and fluffy like pie crust should

I am happy to report it came out gorgeous!

Sadly, the mixture for the inside of the pie looked kinda like chocolate vomit.  How can such good ingredients, sugar, butter, eggs and chocolate look so nasty?

After crossing my fingers and pouring this mess into my amazingly fantastic crust, I popped it in the oven
still looking like vomit.

The end result?

I await my roommate's return home to try some first ;)

Dark feelings, chocolate pie!

After being super disappointed by a guy this weekend.  I was in a foul and viscous mood. I decided my pie should reflect my mood.  I give you, http://foodrepublik.com/dark-chocolate-pie/

It was a rainy miserable day which didnt help how pissed off and sad I was.

so I took my tried to let my rage out by cooking (and doing an hour of kick boxing).  I brought some of my trusty "friends" together and made some dough

wrapped it up in wax paper and let it set.  This crust was rather crumbly and dry.  Must have been the rage.  I really think what you are feeling goes into your food. This happens in  "like water for chocolate" which I was forced to read in spanish.

The rage made me crazy and I didnt read the recipe all the way through before actually following the steps. So I cooked the pie for 10 minutes, poured in the chocolate and let it sit in the fridge.

Gorgeous!!!

But not cooked.  So I had to bake it agian when the pie got to its destination.

After baking and filling a friend's apartment with smoke from the melted butter burning on the bottom of the stove.  We were able to feast.  This pie tasted like the best mushiest part of a brownie.  AMAZING!

Gobbled down
in no time.  Who knew RAGE could taste so sweet

Pumpkin Pie disaster?

I thought this would be easy.
A recipe from my favorite, artery clogging southern baker, Ms. Paula Deen
http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/pumpkin-pie-recipe/index.html

Pumkin and cream cheese?  easy breezy...right?

Then I blend it all together with some vanilla, cinnamon etc.  But, crap, no heavy cream in my fridge.  I will just use milk

Now it looks kinda nasty, but still tastes great

If you have met me, you know I wont give up. I have already put in the time, used all that butter and cream cheese, Im gonna make this pie regardless.

(insert cheesy religious high pitch ohhhhhhh noise here)
It turned out ok!!
Look at the sun shining on my cooled down pie this morning

I brought it into work.  Its a little more loose than I would like, but all in all it tastes good.  Lets see what the co workers think.

Blueberry Pie

Week 2

I was feeling like berries and went with the easiest kind to find frozen, Blueberries!!

Using simply recipes http://simplyrecipes.com/recipes/blueberry_pie/

and a Martha Stuart pie crust recipe (though I dont have a food processor).

I think it turned out fine.  It will be given to some friends or brought into the office tomorrow.

My dough was way better than last weeks.  Very much a dough like texture, instead of being very buttery.  We shall see how it tastes. There was enough dough to add the lattice work.

All while watching "To Wong Foo" and "Practical Magic" interchangably.

Tada!

Also, the stuff on the bottom of the oven was burning and filling my apartment with smoke.  When I ran into the kitchen and opened the door to see what was on fire, my hand hit the door. Argh. Now my apartment is full of smokey smells and my hand is damaged. Ouchies!
